What plain ChatGPT gets wrong, and why

Ask an unconnected ChatGPT who to start and it will answer. The answer will be fluent, structured and frequently wrong, for three reasons that have nothing to do with the model being bad.

It does not know your roster, so it guesses at who you own. It does not know your scoring, so half-PPR and superflex collapse into a generic average. And unless it searches, its knowledge of injuries and depth charts is whatever was true when it was trained, which in fantasy terms is ancient history.

Two habits that improve any fantasy prompt

First, ask for the reasoning. Adding "and explain why" turns a verdict into something you can sanity-check, which matters because a confident wrong answer is the real failure mode of any AI tool.

Second, use follow-ups. The advantage of a chat over a dashboard is that "what if he is ruled out?" costs one line instead of re-entering the whole scenario. Most people ask one question and stop, which wastes the format.

How FantasyBot actually computes an answer
